10 Non-Banal Pork Garnishes

Like all housewives, I sometimes wonder what garnish to choose for pork. I know this feeling when on weekends with family it’s nice to eat pork steaks! I’ve been waiting for this all week! Welcome to see the most popular recipe on my website Perry’s Pork Chop Recipe steak.

In this article you will find no banal variants of pork garnishes.  And I also tried to share my kitchen life hacks for cooking. Have fun reading!

1.Potato pork garnish

The best option for pork garnish is, of course, potatoes. It can be baked, boiled, roasted (this option is not for health)

Obviously, I don’t need to teach you 😄

However, I want to share with the advice: how to make the potatoes even more delicious.

Try soaking peeled and sliced potatoes in cool water for about 30 minutes before boiling, roasting or baking them. Then wash them. When you wet the potatoes, most of the starch comes out of the potatoes. For example, if you make soup with moistened potatoes, potatoes melt well in the mouth, but do not decompose. My husband and my guests always know the difference between soaked and unprocessed potatoes.

And baked potatoes will cook faster and have a delicious crispy crust.

Please share your comments if you try this.

I want to share with you one intresting idea for serving of potato.

How to cook this appettasing potato?

  • Potatoes (medium size) – 500 gr.
  • Garlic – 0,5 head.
  • Smoked paprika – to taste.
  • Minced black pepper – 1 pinch.
  • Salt – 1 pinch.
  • Olive oil – 50 ml

Finely chop the garlic and mix with the olive oil, spices, and salt.

Slice the potatoes as shown in the picture. You will need sushi sticks. Place them on the sides of the potatoes and cut them into equal slices. The chopsticks will not let the potatoes cut through completely.

Brush with a mixture of oil and spices.

Bake for 60 minutes at 360F degrees.

2. Boiled Rice

I like to cook rice in a pot. This recipe makes the rice crumbly and very tasty.

  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Rice should be rinsed well, the more the better. This will wash away the starch that glues the rice, and the rice will be crumbly.

Pour water over the washed rice and put it on the fire.

Once it boils, add salt and oil and make a very low heat.

Cook on a low heat under a lid for 20 minutes.

3. Salads With Fresh Vegetables Like Pork Garnish

But if you ask me: What is the best side dish for pork and any other meat? I would answer that it is fresh vegetables and herbs. I didn’t include them in the first item just because potatoes and rice are classics. When your diet is mostly healthy, sometimes you want to make an exception, don’t you?

When we eat meat, the body needs lots of greens and vegetables to digest it. That’s what fiber is. This can be read in this scientific article. After such a dinner you will not feel heavy, and also enrich the intestinal microflora. In addition, it is very tasty.
You can just chop the vegetables and herbs, it’s quick and delicious.

Or you can cook this Greek salad:

  • 100 g salad greens
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • dried oregano 1/2 tsp.
  • salt

Coarsely chop all the vegetables. Cut the tomatoes into wedges, cut the cucumbers into half slices, feta cheese into large cubes, cut the onions into half rings or into rings, and bell pepper in julienne.

7. Pasta

Pasta is, of course, a dish in itself. But there are recipes for pasta as a side dish – with vegetables, with pesto, with anything, even with cheese. You can come up with a new side dish every time: just look in the fridge and see what vegetables you have. Roast, boil or bake them, add your favorite seasonings, mix with pasta – a delicious side dish is ready!

This is a great side dish option that goes with almost any meat.

Below you will find a classic recipe for spaghetti with tomato sauce.

  • 800 grams of ripe tomatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • Few sprigs of basil
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • Salt
  • Black pepper.

Boil spaghetti as you normally do.

Rinse tomatoes in boiling water and peel them.

Slice tomatoes and onion into small cubes.

Fry the onion in butter.

Add tomatoes and finely chopped basil, salt and season.

Braise until the liquid has evaporated. Stir-fry lightly when the liquid has melted.

Add the cooked sauce to the spaghetti, stir and let stand.

  • Tomato (large) – 1 pc
  • Onion – 1 pc

  • Vegetable oil – 4 tbsp.

Boil bulgur as usual.

Chop the onion finely, pepper in medium strips, carrots in julienne, tomatoes pour boiling water, remove the skin, and cut into large cubes.

Fry onion and carrots in oil until golden.

Add the bell peppers and tomatoes and stir-fry a couple of minutes more.

Add salt and spices.

Add 2-3 tbsp. water and stew under a closed lid for 5-7 minutes over low heat.

Add the bulgur to the pan. Stir and let stand for 5-7 minutes. Your unusual side dish is ready!

9. Mashed Cereal.

You can simply boil the cereal and serve it with a sauce to go with the meat. Or you can make serving even more interesting. Make a mashed potato out of cereals.

This will work for this:

  • White or red beans
  • Peas
  • Red lentils
  • Chickpeas

To do this, boil any grits well with salt, don’t drain all the liquid. Grind in a blender with the addition of black pepper.

By the way, mashed peas in our family like to serve with fish. Try it once and you will fall in love with this combination.

10. Vegetable puree

Here you can turn on your imagination and look at ordinary products in a different way.

I recommend these vegetables for mash:

  • Cauliflower
  • Beets
  • Asparagus
  • Batat
  • Broccoli
  • And of course, potatoes

The principle is the same. They are boiled in salted water. Then with a little liquid and spices cook it.
